This is a growing list of people/organizations we like and support, or who
like and support us! Please be sure to visit them. Thanks!
-
CB Hill Guitars: CB is an
incredible luthier in Southern California. Marc plays CB's guitars
-- they're truly works of art! Marc's CB guitar is custom-fitted
with Tom Short's pickups (see below).
- Ear
Candy Cabs: If you are in the market for a guitar or bass speaker
cabinet, and want a completely custom experience, then do yourself a
favor and call these cats! You select everything: the wood (real
wood, not particle board!), the speakers, the wiring, the color, etc.,
and the owner/engineer, Tim, is incredibly helpful with this process.
Marc has been using the Sovereign 1-12 model lately, and it's a whole
new sound! Killer cabs.
- Forshage
Custom Instruments: Chris Forshage in Austin, TX builds superb
guitars and basses. Marc just received a wild, headless model, and
it feels and sounds great! (Pickups are again by Tom Short, see
below) Chris is a great luthier to work with, so give him a call!
- Frenzel
Tube Amps: Jim Frenzel builds incredible tube guitar amps with one
thing in mind: Tone! Very hip looking open- and closed-head
designs, and at ridiculously reasonable prices compared to other
"boutique" amp builders. Marc is now playing through one
of these bad boys -- Check them out!
- John Moulder: Friend and jazz
guitarist/composer extraordinaire -- if you're in the Chicago area, be
sure to find out when John's playing! We perform several of John's
charts, so if you've been to one of our performances, you've heard his
music. John had a few new releases in 2006, so be sure to buy them!
- Just Jazz Guitar Magazine: For
you jazz guitarists or guitar fans, this is the periodical to catch
up on jazz guitar, study arrangements, solos, etc. Great stuff.
-
The Laurie Morvan Band: If
you like smokin' blues-rock, then you have to check out this Southern
California band, lead by guitarist Laurie Morvan. They're great
performers, and have a brand new CD with some fantastic originals. Oh, and by the way, our own bassist, Pat Morvan, thumps out
some heavy electric bass with this band!
- OceanEFX:
Incredible, handmade guitar effects! Corby LaCroix makes some
sweet-sounding pedals for guitarists interested in serious tone, and
excellent prices. Overdrives, boosts, compression, etc. Marc is currently using the "Vintage Echo" pedal
-- very nice! These pedals are "The cure for common tone!"
-
Raezer's Edge Cabinets:
Jeff Hale and his pro staff at J. Hale Music
have graciously taken on the task of continuing the Raezer's Edge
productions, using all the specs, equipment, and heart that the late Rich Raezer put into his work!
Jeff's crew has been continuing Rich's push for innovation, too, so we
encourage you guitarists/bassists to check out these cabs!
- Sound
Island Music: This Seattle-based music store specializes in amps,
amps, and more amps, with an emphasis on serving jazz guitarists!
They carry everything you'd want to play, so if you're in Seattle, you
need to stop in! They have an online store, too, if you're not in
the PNW, and owner Michael Biller is an expert at guiding you to the
right gear for your sound. Check them out!
- Tom
Short's Hand Made Pickups: Tom Short is a Southern California-based
pickup master! This guy hand winds guitar and bass pickups for any
type of sound you need. He's knowledgeable about sound, and easy
to deal with! Marc has one of Tom's pickups on his CB Hill guitar,
and two more for his new Forshage headless guitar. Check him out!
